It must be a sign

Signs seem like they may be an easy thing, when you see them as a regular person that is... and not from a perspective of a designer. Its quite complicated actually – the research – the rule and laws – ADA Complaince. There are standards on prioritizing legibility over some intricate design even though sometimes it really is a branding/event piece.

Other given standards include contrast, easy to read typeface (sans serif), where they are positioned, where they are facing, do they have tactile feedback for the blind? Can they simplify the message and use symbols instead such as a parking sign, bathroom signs, handicap etc...

Other than many purposes a design may have, they come in many different forms and sizes.
